FAQ Passport Questions

Call us at 316-558-3500 to make an appointment.

We generally recommend Walgreens to get your passport photo, but Walmart will also take your photo.

There are a lot of requirements for passport photos, so we do not recommend taking the photo yourself. The photo must be a certain size, the background must be completely white (no shadows, no off-white, gray, etc.). You cannot wear glasses or headwear (if you wear religious headwear, that is acceptable). You cannot wear camo, and it is recommended that you do not wear white clothing. Hair must be tucked away from the face, and you cannot smile or distort your face. You also must be facing forward and there can be no digital alteration. Photos are the most common cause for passports to be rejected, so it’s important to get them done professionally.

It depends:

  1. Were you over 16 when you got your previous passport?
  2. Did your passport expire within the last five years or is about to expire?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, you will renew your passport through the mail. You can find the form on www.travel.state.gov or you can pick up the form at the front desk.

If you answered no to either of these questions, we can process your passport.

Our agents have limited hours, and we understand that our hours may not work for you. If you are needing to get a passport processed in the evening or on the weekend, we recommend talking to the Derby Public Library.

Yes. All applicants must be present. If a child is getting a passport and they are under 16, both parents must be present as well. If a parent cannot come, they need to fill out a consent form and get it notarized. If there are special circumstances and there is only one parent/guardian, you must bring paperwork to prove that. If there is only one parent on the child’s birth certificate, only one must be present. Learn more about apply for a child’s passport here.

No. Even with expedited, it usually takes more than 2 weeks to get your new passport. You can only get a passport faster if it is a Life-or-Death Emergency or Urgent Travel. In these circumstances, you must go to a passport agency, the closest of which is in Dallas. Learn more here.
