Get a Card

Kanshare Libraries

An Andover Public Library card is free to anyone in the U.S. You do not need to be an Andover resident or a Kansas resident.

How to get a Library Card

To get a library card, you would need to come in person to the Andover Public Library and all those applying for a card must be present.

You will need…

  • a current Driver’s License (or Military ID).
    • If your license has your current address, then you do not need to bring anything else with you.
    • For children under 16, a parent/guardian must be present with a current driver’s license. Children over the age of 4 may get their own library card at their parents’ discretion.
  • If your license does not have your correct address, please bring an item with your name and current address printed on it. For example, checks, rental agreements, mail, bills, or insurance cards are all acceptable items.
    • If you do not have current proof of address, we will issue you a Temporary Card, which will limit you to 5 items at a time. The Temporary status will be removed when you bring in proof of address.

What can I do with my Library Card?

With your library card, you can put items on hold free of charge. You can call us over the phone or login on KanShare with you credentials to place an item on hold. You can have up to 10 items on hold at a time. Once your hold is ready, we will contact you via your contact preference and we will hold the item at the library for one week.

The Andover Public Library is in the KanShare Consortium which means that we are partnered with a few area libraries. You can use your library card at our location or any of our consortium libraries. When you put items on hold, you can also have items shipped from our partner libraries to the Andover Public Library free of charge. It usually takes 2-3 business days for items to arrive, and some items such as board games, museum passes, and activity bags cannot be shipped between locations.

You can return Books, Audiobooks, DVDs, and Video Games to any of our consortium libraries.

Libraries in the KanShare Consortium:

  • Augusta Public Library
  • Derby Public Library
  • Park City Public Library
  • Bradford Memorial Library (El Dorado)
  • Goddard Public Library
  • Mulvane Public Library
  • Rose Hill Public Library
